Church Revitalization and Leadership Development
Ministry Details: David and Luci serve in a two-fold ministry. First, they accepted the call to lead (pastor/teacher) Westonaria Baptist Church as a church revitalization. Westonaria is a close-knit urban area of ten suburban townships on the western side of the Gauteng province of South Africa. It's amidst goldfields and forms the nucleus of five gold mines with around 110,000 people. The demographics are approximately 80% black and 20% white Africaans. The second part of their two-fold ministry is to serve as part of the faculty at Shepherds' Seminary Africa. Shepherds Seminary Africa exists to assist local churches in entrusting biblical truth to faithful men who will also teach others (2 Tim 2:2). Personal and Professional Background: David was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Alfred University (upstate NY) in 1985 with B.S. in Marketing. He spent most of his adult life in New Hampshire. He moved to California in 2001 looking to live out the American dream by living life only to please himself. In December of 2007 God brought him to his knees (spiritually bankrupt) at a rehabilitation center, where he heard for the first time (through Grace Community Church Outreach) the gospel that Christ came to save sinners like him. God granted him repentance according to the Scripture with a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27). In March 2008, he began to attend Roosevelt Community Church, and was baptized that April. Since his conversion, his desire has been to grow in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus through His Word and tell others about Him.
David has served as a Deacon at Roosevelt Community Church since February 2012, where he had the privilege of serving the elders and God’s people. He then became the pastoral intern in September of 2012. When he begins studies at The Master’s Seminary where in the spring of 2016, he received his Master of Divinity by the grace of God. After graduation David and Luci began serving in Cape Town, South Africa through church strengthening and sharing the gospel. David’s ministry was twofold: David was the interim pastor/teacher of Living Hope Bible Church helping to further develop the leadership, disciple the men and lead Tuesday Bible study. He also taught on Monday nights for 2 years at the Evangelical Bible College in Mitchells Plain.
David & Luci have been married for five years. They met at Roosevelt Community Church when David first started attending. By God's grace, they have two beautiful children David (George), four years old, and Ruth, two years old, with another child due end of May 2020 (Psalm 127:3).They love to spend time together, going for walks, hiking, camping, bike riding, reading God’s word, praying and family devotions.
